A special wedding with a haunted past ... Michelle + Justin tied the knot at The Forster Mansion, which is believed to be haunted. According to legend there is a ghost - George - who lives there, and has a tendency to smoke cigars in the house. Who doesn't love a good ghost story! George is believed to live in the cemetery. So, of course there needed to be some portraits in the cemetery :) The wedding is a perfect blend of just a touch creepy, but super romantic. Thanks so much to the talented photography duo of Gabriel + Carlie at Gabriel Ryan for sending me this wedding.

Matthew + Amanda aren’t like most couples. Instead of a booking a huge venue and throwing a crazy expensive wedding, Matt + Amanda wanted to do something more ‘them’. They wanted an intimate ceremony with just their son, Jack, and their pastor in attendance. Cameron Ingalls is the talented photographer they hired to document their day and Joel Serrato decided to capture the whole event with a super 8mm camera.

Take a moment and watch this film - especially if you are thinking you don't need video or film for your day, this will probably change your mind. Having our day filmed is one decision I thought we didn't need, but my husband convinced me that it was important and I'm so glad we now have a great video to watch of our wedding day. I wish I had know about the option to have it captured with super 8mm film though, but that is what this blog is here for :)

So there are so many things to consider when picking a wedding date. Sure, you may have a perfect date in your head but you must realistically consider other events hapenning besides your wedding...
For instance, a beautiful Fall wedding sounds great in theory, but what happens if it falls on the biggest local college football game? Would you really want to be stuck in traffic with angry fans trying to get to a tailgate on your wedding day? You don't want your guests showing up hours late to your ceremony or reception.

Traffic isn't the only thing that worries us. Big weekend events call for higher hotel prices, higher rental rates, as well as increased package prices for some vendors.

Every season has it's downfalls. Winter brings in corporate holiday parties and increase chance of snow storms up north. Springs and Summers brings local community events like art festivals, local shows, and not to mention hot, rainy seasons.

So when picking a date, plan ahead! Consider all of your options including community events to ensure that the day runs smoothly!

I love the bright colors Lulu + Billy choose for their modern wedding at the Smog Shoppe in Culver City. And Lulu's bright pink Christian Louboutin heels? So fun. I also love the collection of mismatched J Crew bridesmaids dresses she picked for her girls. Thanks to Kelly at Kelly Melissa Photography for sending me this fun wedding!

From Kelly, As a photographer, the best thing I can ever hope for in a wedding is that the couple will step out of the "cookie cutter" wedding box, and completely personalize their wedding to make it very THEM. And, oh boy, was this wedding VERY Lauren & Billy. All of the details were executed perfectly.













Lulu was sweet enough to send some thoughts from the day also.

Favorite Memory of the Day: How unbelievably happy we were. It was so amazing how every detail of our wedding actually came to life. Every aspect of our wedding, from the guest, food, flowers,to the amazing people working, was perfect...There was one time I was sipping champagne before the ceremony started watching on the big screen and listening to the Marie Antoinette Soundtrack and movie playing...at that moment I knew everything was right, that I needed to remember this moment, it was perfect. ...if they say perfection doesn't exist, not on this day!

Any advice for those planning now? Listen to your heart. Be creative and think outside of the box. Stay true to yourself. Make sure every detail of your wedding represents the two of you, because it really is about you. And make sure to have the best time ever!

Sorry for the late post today. Things are really crazy this week at work, but wanted to take a quick moment to thank everyone who filled out the Reader Survey from last week. I saw this collection of dresses on a glamourous little side project the other day and just fell in love with the contrast of beautiful dresses and the grunge landscape. I really really want one of those huge letters for my house! How awesome would it be to have your reception in a space with huge letters around?
