Dos
* Wash your satin dress with cold water along with a gentle detergent.
* Hand wash is the best wash can be given to it. It retains its smoothness.
* Keep satin in a bucket containing a detergent solution for almost five minutes, so that solution can absorb the dust. After this gently squeeze the dress to let froth come out. Then rinse off thoroughly with cold water.
* Do not rub hardly the satin material as it affects its smoothness as well as loosened the fabric.
* After washing do not dry it in dryer. Instead place satin dress in a towel flatly and roll the towel, Swiss roll style, and apply pressure to force out water. Then unroll the towel and take out your dress and put it on another clean and dry towel for air-drying. Keep satin fabric away from sun or excess heat. This is the right procedure of drying satin.
* Like cotton, satin does not need to be ironed heavily. It is a light and smooth material thus cool ironing is perfect for it.
Don'ts
* Store satin in a cool dry place. Excess heat or sun is not good for placing it. Airtight container is also a good choice.
* Hot water wash is not appropriate for satin as it shrinks satin fabric up to approx 20%. Hence never wash satin items in hot water.
* Dry cleaning is earmark for extremely delicate satin only. It avoids any type of damage to it.
