Choosing Your Wedding Gown

Selecting Your Wedding Gown
Selecting Your Wedding Gown
Selecting Your Wedding Gown

Stick with something that you'll feel comfortable in throughout the day. Some lace materials may look very elegant, but they may be very irritating to the skin. In addition to the style of the dress, you'll also want to consider the material of the dress.

In fact, you'll probably be very cold. If you're getting married in January, you probably wouldn't feel very comfortable in a sleeveless wedding gown. Dress according to the weather. Do a lot of catalog and window shopping in advance to help give yourself a better idea of what you're looking for.

Your wedding gown isn't something you want to rush out and buy at the last minute. The following tips will help you make the process of selecting a dress a pleasant experience. But deciding just which dress you want to be remembered in (for the rest of your life!) is the hard part. Ooohing and Ahhing over gorgeous dresses is possibly the most exciting part of getting prepared for your wedding day. Choosing a wedding gown is one of the most fun tasks for the bride-to-be.

Paris Fashion Week - Haute Couture Wedding Gown

Paris Fashion Week - Haute Couture Wedding Gown

Everyone knows that I’m all about a short wedding dress, but I just don’t think I’m feeling the “Business in the front/Party in the back” gown that Karl Lagerfeld showed for Chanel at this weeks’ Fashion Week. Maybe it was the way the model carried it, or maybe it was Zoolander on her arm that blew the fantasy for me. I just think the train and the gown don’t seem to work together (just my VERY humble opinion…)
That said, I can’t get ENOUGH of the wedding eye candy from yesterday’s Elie Saab show. Even though the designer has been under fire for having the doity noive to show an all-white collection in the exact same venue as the Chanel all-white show from only 6 months ago (gasp!), I think the entire collection was frou-frou fabulous, and any one of the looks would look gorgeous coming down the aisle.

A train that is extended is not advisable when the wedding location is outdoors, but a shorter version is acceptable. In keeping with an island wedding theme, sarongs, tea length dresses, or short wedding dresses lend themselves really well. This means the bride's wedding dress will have to be packed, therefore a dress that irons well or less likely to crease is a safe bet.

The advantage to these fabrics is their easy mobility; to limit the amount of sticking or clinging a fabric may have against a bride's skin, in the hot weather. To be capable of using these trade winds in a bride's favor, fabrics that are light weight are best, such as georgette, linen, charmeuse, gauze, satin, cotton, silk, and chiffon. One of these is the trade winds, which are breezy and light. several aspects must be respected for the bride to feel comfortable at the beach during an island wedding. Color Controversy

Most girls dream of walking down the isle in a big white dress. It's one of the only consistent wedding traditions. Now we see most brides leaning towards an off white dress and every once and awhile a modern bride comes along who wants to make a statement. Her statement just happens to fall in the midst of a white tradtion. She goes against the grain and wears a colored dress:

{source}

So for our bride readers out there who are leaning towards the colored dress trend, we say to stop and think first.
Disadvantages:
  • You may not be the only one wearing your color.
  • You can always wear a colored dress.
  • What color will your bridesmaids wear? Colors are harder to pair up together.
  • When can you honestly wear another big white dress again?
Advantages:
  • Colors compliment most skin tones better than white or ivory.
  • Don't have to worry THAT much about staining your dress.
  • You're the bride, so you will stand out regardless of the color of your dress.
  • A colored dress can incoprorate your color scheme and vision more.

So how far is too far for a pop of color? Do any of you brides plan on wearing a colored dress? And do any of you traditional brides think it's going too far?

Wedding Gown Preservation - Compare prices and methods
By Donald Clifton

One of your most precious memories of your wedding is your wedding dress. You will have your photo albums, perhaps some dried flowers, but what about your dress? If you want to preserve your wedding dress for a daughter or granddaughter to wear, or for the 5th anniversary, or just remember watching that day, it is important that it be allowed.

Without preserving your wedding gown may deteriorate, stains or develop effective change color over time. It is important to ask, or a bunch of questions or the methods of the company to ensure that your dress will be beautiful for years to come. Some brides think that the closure of their dress in a plastic bag and hung in their wardrobe is all that is needed. Some companies charge $ 500 for cleaning and preserving a wedding gown.

All wedding dresses get dirty. No mater how much are they married hem drags the ground or floor is dirty. Even if an anti-perspirants is used, it will always be under-arm problems, some visible some not. Make-up can easily transfer them to dress when taking on or off. Another area on the upper bodice of the dress that was rubbing against your chest may also be a problem. It is not accidental cake, wine, coffee, soda or other tasks that can make a mess of your dress.

Here's what you want to make sure that your marriage is going to have to dress properly preserved. If the business you want to use does not explain in full, or shortcuts or other of these processes to avoid them. Beware of companies that are not wholly or give you detailed information on their methods, you can not trust that your dress will be properly cared for or treated properly.

wedding gownFirst, when the dress arrives in the company, it must be carefully inspected part. The hem, the arm-pits, and at the top of the bodice part, should be specially cleaned. After the other parts of the dress are inspected for stains, these stains should be removed. This May take various cleaning depending on the stain.

Your wedding dress should then go through an appeal process and anti-sugar. This step is to ensure that any spot with sugar substance, such as cake icing, wine, soda or withdrawn and will not turn yellow later. Dry cleaning fluids did not affect sugar and unless this step is to take the sugar will stain and turn yellow later.

The next step is to dry clean the dress. It's called "dry cleaning" because the cleaning fluid is not water. It may be a variety of different special cleaning liquids. After dry cleaning the dress must be filled dried. The dress must be re-inspected again to make sure that all stains have been removed and the cleaning process has been totally effective.

After inspection of your wedding gown should be pressed against a steam and hand. The dress is then pressed on a bust form to form the bodice of the dress. Any area neede, shoulders, sleeves, the bust will be "stuffed" with acid-free tissue. The dress is then placed in an acid-free box with a display (so you can see the bodice of the dress). Make sure the box, and is acid-free tissue. Regular cardboard boxes and tissues can react chemically with the fabric of the dress over time and cause discoloration and / or deterioration.

The box should be placed in a shipping box and return to you. Avoid companies that do not provide each of these steps. Also avoid any company that seals your dress in a box. Sealing can retain moisture that can cause mold to form and ruin your wedding dress.

This year's weddings call for both classic and trendy modern styles. Typically, most would-be brides go for the classic elegant styles particularly when it comes to their wedding gowns. Since the bride is always the center of attention, it is important that her gown fits her well in most aspects because it is a representation of her style and taste.

For the year 2010, the trend in wedding gowns is somewhat a revival of the past but a bit edgy to fit the lifestyles and tastes of the modern woman. Going for signature or branded wedding gown isn't always necessary because local designers know the evolving trend. It's usually up to the bride to choose the design she wants as long as the dress will bring out the best in her.

Here are 2010's top 5 hottest wedding gown trends in no particular order:

(1) Traditional style wedding gowns never falter

Traditional style gowns are still in simply because of their elegance. Some women go for this type of wedding gown style especially when they want that ball feel. The main difference though is in the neckline which is lower nowadays compared to yesteryears where fully-covered bosoms are a must particularly when it is a church wedding. And of course, the color is always the traditional white for that clean, classic look.

(2) Sleek figure-hugging gowns for the slim bride

This type of wedding gown is one of current favorites. This trend will probably stay for long since women nowadays are trying to get fit and slim to look their best. If you want this style, make sure that the dress will perfectly fit you to achieve the ideal silhouette.

(3) 50's style Hollywood glamour

Nothing is too vintage when talking about 50's style wedding gowns. These are usually floor-length and belted at the waistline. Some of these gowns are knee-length at the hem and have sheer overlay which emphasizes the hem and legs.
